About Laurie
Laurie Lynn Hunt
Laurie Lynn Hunt is an author, speaker, educator, addictions & mental health counselor (C.D.C.), former social worker, and performer whose work blends humour, truth, and emotional healing. With a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Education, and a Professional Graduate Certificate in Montessori Methods for Alzheimer’s & Dementia, she has dedicated her career to supporting individuals and communities with compassion and insight.
Her memoir, Life Lessons I Learned From My Dogs, is a deeply personal journey through trauma, grief, resilience, and the unwavering love of her dogs. Her second book continues this courageous story, exploring self-discovery, boundaries, and healing.
Laurie is the creator and performer of The Housecoat Gospel, a comedic-heartfelt storytelling performance honouring her life, her losses, her dogs, her Auntie Ida, and the resilience that carried her forward.
Today, Laurie’s work focuses primarily on speaking, writing, and performing, with the Healing Minis and her dogs as beloved characters and emotional anchors in her ongoing story.
She lives in North Augusta, Ontario with her miniature horses and her dogs, Lola and Ethel, who continue to inspire her work and her life every day.

“I help people heal through humour, storytelling, and compassion—reminding them they’re not alone and they’re stronger than they realize.” - Laurie Hunt
